Document Naming Manager · included with EMP Intake Standard & Professional

Standardize file names before they become chaos.

DNM applies your naming convention consistently across a team using OCR, Smart Suggest and watch folders, all local first. It grew out of EMP Intake’s file intake layer, and it’s included with EMP Intake Standard & Professional.

The Document Naming Manager desktop app building a consistent filename from division, date, description, type, priority, and class segments, with a live filename preview and a smart-suggest rename list.
The lineage

How Document Naming Manager spun out of EMP Intake.

01

It started inside EMP

EMP Intake’s whole thesis is that a file is evidence the moment it exists, so intake has to be disciplined. Part of that discipline was naming: consistent, structured file names captured at the moment of receipt, not cleaned up later.

02

The naming layer outgrew the case

That same problem, inconsistent file names becoming unsearchable chaos, turned out to plague teams who never touch a forensic case: property managers, strata/HOA admins, professional services firms living in SharePoint and OneDrive.

03

So we spun it out

We lifted EMP’s file-intake + naming-standard capability into a focused product: Document Naming Manager. Same local-first discipline, aimed at everyday document chaos instead of evidence.

The naming discipline is documented as the DNM File Naming Standard, one of 12 filename standards shipping alongside EMP Intake.

What DNM does

Naming discipline, without the busywork.

Naming standards & profiles

Define the naming convention once (fields, order, separators, casing) and apply it consistently across a team. No more “Final_v3_FINAL (2).docx”.

Smart Suggest with OCR

DNM proposes a compliant name from the file’s own content and context, so renaming is a confirm, not a retype. You stay in control of every change.

Watch-folder intake

Point DNM at a folder (downloads, a scanner output, a shared drive) and it standardizes new files as they land. Review queue included, nothing renamed blindly.

Local-first by design

Core naming runs on your machine. No cloud AI, no uploads, no file contents leaving your device. The same privacy posture as EMP Intake.

Included with eligible EMP plans

DNM comes with EMP Intake Standard & Professional.

If you run EMP Intake on the Standard or Professional tier, a DNM license is yours at no extra cost. The same naming discipline that keeps your evidence intake clean can run across the rest of your documents too.

How it arrives: buy Standard or Professional and your DNM license key is emailed to you automatically, in a second email after your EMP key. If it has not arrived within the published support window, email support@falcrex.com from your purchase address. The Core tier doesn’t include DNM.

Quick answers

About DNM.

What exactly is DNM?

Document Naming Manager is a Windows tool that standardizes file names against a naming convention you define, with Smart Suggest, profiles, and watch-folder intake. It’s for teams whose files live in SharePoint, OneDrive, scanners, and shared drives, where inconsistent names become unsearchable chaos.

How is DNM related to EMP Intake?

DNM was spun out of EMP Intake’s file-intake and naming-standard layer. EMP needed disciplined, consistent naming at the moment evidence enters a case; that capability proved valuable on its own, so we built it into a standalone product. Same team, same local-first principles.

Which EMP Intake WS plans include DNM?

A DNM license is included with EMP Intake WS Standard and Professional at no extra cost. It arrives automatically: buy Standard or Professional and the DNM key is emailed to you in a second email after your EMP key. If it has not arrived within the published support window, email support@falcrex.com from your purchase address. (Core does not include DNM.)

Does DNM upload my files anywhere?

No. Core naming runs locally on your workstation. No cloud AI, no OCR upload, no file contents transmitted. Licensing uses Cryptlex, the same activation system as EMP Intake.

Can I buy DNM on its own?

DNM is sold standalone at getdnm.com for teams that don’t need EMP Intake. Email us and we’ll point you to the right plan.
