The 14-day plan

A real case, start to finish, in 14 days.

The trial runs at Professional, so nearly every tool is available, custom export branding aside. Here is a day-by-day plan that takes one case from intake through a verifiable export, then ends in a clear decision.

Day 1
Install EMP Intake and create a test case.
Run the installer, activate the trial in-app, and open a fresh case so the workspace is ready.
Day 2
Intake files and confirm every file hashes at intake.
Import files, then check that each one gets a SHA-256 hash the moment it lands.
Day 3
Add people, vehicles, places, and assets as case objects.
Capture the parties, vehicles, scenes, and devices in the case as structured objects you can reuse.
Day 4
Link those case objects to the evidence, and add comments and file notes.
Connect each object to the files that prove it, then record comments and file notes as you go.
Day 5
Record loss and impact, then review the charts.
Log the loss and impact for the case and look over the charts and graphs it produces.
Day 6
Drop incident map pins for places, scenes, and evidence locations.
Place pins on the incident map for every location that matters, from scenes to where evidence was found. Create a path and link a pin for map playback.
Day 7
Review the link-analysis graph and the heat map.
Open the link-analysis graph to see how objects connect, and read the heat map for where activity concentrates.
Day 8
Add tasks, findings and comments.
Assign the tasks the case still needs and write up the findings the evidence supports.
Day 9
Complete case notes
Finish your intake notes, investigation notes, and conclusion, and double check that every file has been loaded.
Day 10
Export a package.
Produce the export package: the report, a manifest of every hash, preserved originals, and the reconstruction.
Day 11
Verify the package on another machine.
Move the export to a second computer with no EMP installed and re-check every hash against the manifest. The offline verifier tool is included with each export.
Days 12 to 14
Decide Core, Standard, or Professional.
With a real case run behind you, pick the edition that fits your work, or do nothing and the trial simply stops.

The trial activates in-app, with no credit card and no sales call. Nothing charges when it ends, you pick an edition or walk away.

Pro tools

All 14 days run at Professional, so every tool in the plan above is available. The one Professional feature held back is custom export branding, your logo on export PDFs. Choose Core or Standard later and the Professional tools switch off, but your cases stay intact.

Verifiable

The export package is tamper-evident, not tamper-proof: anyone can re-hash the files against the manifest with standard tools and see whether a single byte changed.

Do I need a credit card?

No. The 14-day trial activates in-app via Cryptlex with no card and no sales call.

Which features does the trial include?

Nearly all. The trial runs at Professional, including the reconstruction tools: timeline reconstruction, link analysis, and the heat map. The one Professional feature the trial leaves off is custom export branding, your logo on export PDFs. Pick Core or Standard afterward and the Pro tools switch off, but your cases stay intact and keep opening.

What happens on day 15?

Pick an edition to continue, or do nothing. With no card on file, nothing charges automatically. After the trial ends, you need an active licence to open cases or export through EMP. Your saved data remains on your machine. Packages you already exported remain readable and verifiable without EMP.
